Queer Market Christmas Edition

AMSTERDAM – As the city prepares for the holidays, queer entrepreneurship gets its own platform during the wintery Queer Market Christmas Edition. On Saturday, December 13, Door Open Space in Amsterdam-Noord will transform into a warm, inclusive Christmas market where queer and local entrepreneurs showcase their creativity, from art and clothing to food, design, and gifts with a story.

More than a Christmas market

The Queer Market has quickly become one of the most visible platforms for queer entrepreneurship in the Netherlands. While many queer entrepreneurs often fall outside of traditional networks, the Queer Market offers a place to sell, connect, and grow.

"Visibility isn't something many queer entrepreneurs take for granted," says Sebastiaan Zoet, initiator. "This Christmas edition isn't just about selling. It's about stories, about economic space, and about celebrating who we are."

A winter full of stories, color, and community

Visitors can look forward to more than thirty-five participating creators: from queer artists and vintage vendors to sustainable designers and local food concepts. There will also be drag queens hosting a drag bingo. The market will be indoors, festively decorated with lights, music, and, of course, mulled wine. There will also be queer DJs, mini-performances, and moments of connection: exactly what the holidays need.

Behind every stall lies a story of creativity and community. From a designer working with recycled fabrics to an artist exploring intimacy and identity in their work, to the Flinta community, the Queer Market demonstrates how diversity and entrepreneurship reinforce each other.

Social impact and an inclusive economy

The Queer Market consciously chooses social impact and an inclusive economy. A portion of the proceeds will go to Don't Go We Will Fund Them. This year, the organization is also introducing a community ticket. This allows visitors who are struggling financially free admission, ensuring that no one is excluded from this winter edition.

With this approach, the Queer Market demonstrates that economic progress and solidarity reinforce each other. "Everyone should feel welcome; access to culture and community should never be a luxury."
