Amsterdam has gained a new 3000m2 space for art, experimentation and nightlife at the NDSM.

DOORS OPEN AT 19:00

PROGRAM STARTS AT 20:00

On Friday, the 13th of January, there is an official opening of DOOR Open Space, a new location of 3000m2 for art, performance, theatre and nightlife at the NDSM in Amsterdam Noord.

In the past months, many artists, theatres and organisations have been able to inhabit DOOR Open Space, including the Re:master Opera program of the Sandberg Institute, het Vlaams Cultuurhuis de Brakke Grond, the Dutch Theatre Festival, ISH Dance Collective, Young Gangsters and A Perfect Day.

DOOR Open Space also runs its own residency program for young artists and delivers self-produced interdisciplinary art events such as the The Circle of Truth.

Founded by Chafik Benhmidouch, who has given a unique interpretation to temporary, vacant locations in and around Amsterdam, DOOR Open Space realises a long-cherished dream to create a place of encounters. A place which fosters collaborative and experimental approaches and melds manifold disciplines, cultural backgrounds and diverse types of audiences.

DOOR Open Space aspires to contribute to the development of art, performance & theatre in Amsterdam by supporting conceptual, activist and socially engaged practices, which are core to enriching culture and nightlife.

“Amsterdam, the birthplace of legendary developments in art and nightlife, needs DOOR Open Space in response to the advancing commercialisation of the city, to offer a place in between the established cultural institutions where people can meet and together can be a part of one great artistic experience. “ - Chafik Benhmidouch

We hereby cordially invite you to discover our new space on Friday, the 13th of January and get acquainted with our program in an exciting evening full of art, performances and music curated by DOOR Open Space.

DOOR Policy: We are a space that aims at full inclusivity! It is a must that everyone feels safe within our walls. We do not tolerate any form of homophobia, xenophobia, racism, transphobia, sexism or any other type of discrimination.
