The Grid: Embodied

On Wednesday October 22, Amsterdam Dance Event kicks off with a one-of-a-kind premiere: The Grid: Embodied. In this immersive opening performance, light, sound, and dance come together in a new installation by Victor Dissel and Bram van Ravenhorst, brought to life with a special choreography by Arno Schuitemaker.

The Grid: Embodied immerses you in a unique perspective on the ‘club experience’ for 2025: a performance that balances between music, installation art, and choreography, positioned in the grey area of ADE’s dynamic programme. In the industrial space of Door Open Space, a twenty-minute dialogue between human and machine unfolds, in which sixteen moving light columns and Schuitemaker’s dancer create a hypnotic interplay. The Grid: Embodied unleashes the power of movement, transforming the rigid grid of our world into a fluid space — a symbiosis in which you don't get lost but find your own way.

With your ticket for the performance, you will also get a sneak peek of the Club Cult exhibitions in the connected hall. Here, you can explore the rich history of nightlife: from 30 years of Dutch rave and club culture to the iconic final days of club De School, highlighted through two book launches, flyer art, intimate portraits and video works.

After the opening night, The Grid remains on view until Saturday 25th October as a standalone installation running parallel to the ongoing exhibitions.
